Birmingham provides digital hub for The Beans Group expansion

New regional office takes business back to original roots

We are very excited to announce the opening of a new hub at The Custard Factory in Birmingham to fuel our global ambitions.

We are recruiting for a number of positions in the city, including software developers, front-end developers and web designers. The new team and will work closely with the London office to develop mobile and web products that will be used by millions of young people around the world.

The creation of a first regional office takes the business back to where it all started. Brothers James and Michael Eder founded Student Beans in Birmingham back in 2005, going door to door signing up local businesses to offer a student discount that would be promoted via the website. As a recent graduate from the University of Birmingham, James came up with the idea for Student Beans as part of a final year project and the brothers were committed to making a difference to the lives of students, but also to the local business in the area. A year later the website went national and there is now a team of almost 50 based in the London office, working with clients such as Google, YouTube, Microsoft, The Economist, O2, Merlin Entertainment and more.

Michael Eder, Managing Director of The Beans Group, says: “This exciting step will give us access to the strong talent in the digital sector that is available in the Midlands. It takes the business back to our original roots and the city that gave us the platform to help us get to where we are today. We’re very familiar with the city, its vibrant youth culture and the great things it can offer and through our recruitment of both full-time positions and internships, we hope to give back to the local student community that was so influential at the beginning of our journey.”
